That speed is shocking for the attenuation, definitely a fault there.

Ring in and request an engineer. You may have to insist, don't take anything else as a solution.

The line is silent. I don't think there is a problem with then internal wiring as earlier in the month I was getting the higher speed consistently. Nothing internally has changed, and I only saw the drop in speed from the reinstatement after the external issue.

Re: Internet Speed Dropped after Disconnection

Well from the stats you have posted there is something wrong with your connection and it is either internal or external. To endure that you don't get charged £85 fir engineer visit trying the test socket with a filter is the best way. If that does not help speed and improve stats then as suggested you need to phone 151 and get engineer visit

Hi @Duncandisorderly,

Please can you try the test socket as suggested by @imjolly and @pippincp. If you don't notice an improvement after that post back and I'll be more that happy to take a look at your connection and run a few checks on your line.

Its important that we rule out any internal issues first in case we need to send an engineer.

Thanks

Re: Internet Speed Dropped after Disconnection

I used the broadband fault finder late last night. It reported slow speed. It then did further checks on the network and reported a fault outside my property. I have had an email this morning saying they hope to have it resolved by 6 pm 21/02/19. There were no visible details of what the fault was, just that it was outside the house. I assume this already discounts the internal set up which hasn't changed. There was no suggestion the engineer needed access to my property, so presumably they can see the fault is external.

Hopefully it will be resolved as indicated and I'll be back to normal soon.

Thanks for your support.

If as I suspect nothing will change after 21st then try test socket with filter as previously suggested

Re: Internet Speed Dropped after Disconnection

If nothing changes after 21st. I'll do as you say. I didn't expect the result returned last night, but as it appeared to show an external fault I don't mind giving it a couple more days. I guess I'll either be back in a couple of days to say problem solved or to report what I see with the filter at the master socket. Your lack of optimism is presumably based on long experience. Food for thought.
