My wifi starts on the 7th but I don't get my router till the tenth can I still use my old router till my new one comes

A lot more information is required.

By WiFi I assume you mean broadband. Are you moving to BT from another supplier?

Are you changing from copper to fibre?

What router do you currently have?

When is your BT broadband activation date as unusual to get activation before receipt of hub

This is like pulling teeth.

What router do you currently have, is it locked down or can you configure it.

You say you are with SSE if you are using the router they provided I would imagine its locked down

If you are using your own then you can configure it with the details:

username bthomehub@btbroadband.com 
Password: BT

You would normally get your router a few days before though so I would follow up with BT:
Track or change a new broadband order | BT Help
