Is there an issue with my line?
I think that our FTTC service has degraded over time. When we moved in 12 months a go I was amazed at getting approx 70 Mbps from a cabinet over 700 metres away.
But recently I have noticed that our speed is lower. We have had openreach out as we were experiencing really poor performance. Line was apparently good but I think something is not right. Our (non BT) router has been having disconnections for no apparent reason (and I have swapped it for a nother good unit of the same type but to no avail). The BT router was dropped as my kids were experiencing poor wi-fi coverage; the draytek vigor 2760 is a bit old but seems to be better in that regard.
Can you advise what I need to post here to help diagnose the issue?

Re: Is there an issue with my line?
Start with a quiet line test. 17070 option 2, best with corded phone but with cordless you may get a background hum. Any noise report a line problem.
Post the connection stats from the router.
If needed we may ask for more.

Re: Is there an issue with my line?
From stats connection time is 39hrs with speed 57mb just above attainable so looks ok.
What about quiet line test?

Re: Is there an issue with my line?
Thanks. I'll do the quiet line test as soon as I can dig out an old wired phone.
Funnily enough the router lost connection tonight and rebooted itself
There's definitely something up. 3rd router to display this.

Re: Is there an issue with my line?
Hi @dai_bonehead and welcome back, it's been a while.
Thanks for posting about the connection dropping, sorry you're having a few problems there. The guys are right. Can you check the quiet line test and get back to us with the results and we can take it from there.
Cheers
David

Re: Is there an issue with my line?
So I managed to dig out an old wired phone. Quiet line test was not consistent.
First test, I plugged it into the BT master test socket with a microfilter. I could hear some interference.
Second test, I disconnected the microfilter, and then reconnected the BT faceplate; note that the modem was not connected at this point. Phone was plugged in and then I could also hear interference.
I decided to test again as the first test but with a different microfilter. Line seemed a lot quiter.
Reconnected the faceplate and again quiet.
However, when I plugged in the modem I think I could hear some interference. So I am unsure if this helps or not. What is my next step?
Thanks.
