Just switched to BT Broadband

Go to solution

I've just switched from IDNet to BT Infinity 2 - purely based on a cost basis.

Service went live this morning, however with IDNet I was getting around 74Mbps down and 17Mbps up.

Since the service switch to BT today it has dropped to  54Mbps down and 15Mbps up.

Is this something that will correct itself, or do I have an issue? Don't really want a drop in speed like that for a saving of around 8 quid a month!

Oh.. I'm using the same router, that I used with IDNet, not the BT one (Asus ROG GT-5300)

Can you display the connection parameters from your Asus ROG GT-5300?

Specifically, connection speed , max connection speed, and downstream noise margin.

It has no modem - I'm using a HG612

I guess I am going to have to try and use the Homehub to get the stats, but I can't do that without some reshuffling, as the internet connection is from one side of the house to the other over CAT5e - and I think the Homehub requires an RJ11.

Just concerned that my speeds seem more like Infinity 1 speeds than Infinity 2, and my internet speed was literally 50% faster right up to the switchover this morning.

Your upload speed is higher than the old Infinity 1 product.

If you use the BT Wholesale performance tester, and select further  diagnostics, it should show your current IP profile.

Give DLM a chance to do its stuff, it would have put you on an open profile. Once G.Inp and 3dB SNRM has kicked in you should see an improvement.

I was wondering if it was something along those lines...

Re: Just switched to BT Broadband

So the profile I added a screenshot above (shows I am hitting the max for my current profile) should change over time?

Cheers for all the replies!
