Lease Line

Hi,

Not sure this is the right place to post this.

I run a small business from my home. I have a VM 350meg residential line.  I'm looking to move house but the house I'm looking at doesn't have VM and only up to 40meg BT fibre.

I've looked at a lease line, expensive I know. Does anyone know if the speed of a lease line would only be as quick as what BT offer as a standard residential line.

Many Thanks

Mike

Re: Lease Line

BTRetail no longer offer leased lines for either residential or business, possibly due to the costs involved of supplying FTTPoD.

Re: Lease Line

Leased Line is just another name for a Private Ethernet Circuit.

They still have them, it’s Openreaches Cash Cow. They have an entire Engineering Division dedicated to it called Business Corporate Delivery.

I think they do Speed Packages between 100mbps up to 10gbps.

The Installation Costs though can be very expensive, talking tens of thousands of pounds and the line rental can be into the hundreds of pounds a month.

Re: Lease Line

Thanks. My main question, regardless of supplier, is if the residential speed is max 40meg, would that mean that a lease line would also only be able to be a max of 40meg?

Re: Lease Line

No, they are entirely different products delivered differently.

Re: Lease Line

Thanks for that @licquorice I assumed the BTWholesale "Stop Sell" was still in place.

As the link you posted shows it is a BT Business product and has nothing to do with this residential forum though.

The OP should contact BT Business for any further details.

Re: Lease Line

Thanks all. It was really to see if max speeds from a cabinet is different between residential and lease. Maybe I'll ask bt business. Sounds like it could be expensive.

Anyone think 40meg is OK. I'm used to 350meg.
