Lying multiple times ....

Has anyone else had BT blatantly lie to them.. I was initially missold a product I pay £55 for just broadband supposedly at 900mb..

They lied and stated it 900mb wireless...multiple times...

The actual wired and wireless is 150mb max confirmed by open reach.

I was then lied to by their tech department who said the engineer appt would be free... I've been charged £250 this month.

I have the agents explicitly tell me it's 600-900mb wireless and and explicitly tell em because it's a fault on line the engineer is free....

Yet here I am paying £55 a month for max 150mb broadband and a line the drops intermittently.. every bone in my body despises the arrogant of this company who pretend to be softly while at the same time acting like dodgy back street 2nd hand car salesmen.

Even their complaint department refused to pull the calls even though I stated the agents were explicit in their speech to me so I haven't misunderstood....

horrible company...they should be stripped of all market share and it's a telling sign they went from monopoly to the worst telecoms company in only 20years...

Disgusting.

Re: Lying multiple times ....

the connection speed is 900mb to your router not download speed to your device  what speed do you get by connecting device to bt hub using ethernet connection not wifi  no ISP guarantees speed over wifi

try using  fast.com

this is from another previous post  https://community.bt.com/t5/BT-Fibre-broadband/FTTP/m-p/2303599#M347829

if you are dropping connection are the lights on the ONT changing from green and if so to what colour

Re: Lying multiple times ....

Really not a great response...

Checking online only checks to the box and house, it doesn't check the master that goes to router .. irrespective I had BT wholesale in and they confirmed the master only getting 150mb so no your not right and assuming 3rd party erbs actually give u the right figure is both part of the problem and not helpful....

The problem is the lies ..I confirmed both WiFi and free engineer appt.. so irrespective of the tech points, the promise and agreement was on WiFi speed.... But 150 is atrocious even as hardlined..

I have i9 14th gen be as tss as I'm a developer so I know tech and hardware.... So no your wrong... I wasn't promised hardline only.. I was promised WiFi...

And even if that's the case.. then they equipment they've sent OBS isn't handling 6-900mb ...

Either way ... Not helpful...the lies still exist.  I still pay £55 for a 150mb broadband that should cost £10....

Re: Lying multiple times ....

tech developer or not you are not going to get 900mb download over wifi.  if that is what you were told then you certainly have been misled but surprised you believed the installer

Re: Lying multiple times ....

The classic "cop out" is it's speed to the hub not over wifi.

The truth is the prehistoric BT router is simply not capable of 900mbps.

I too was getting 150mbps top's  on my 500mbps deal till I bought a wifi 6 router .

Now getting 500mbps over wifi.

If you want faster speeds you need to change your router

Re: Lying multiple times ....

Absolutely nonsense, the BT SH2 is more than capable of delivering 900Mb on a wired Ethernet connection, in fact typical speeds on a 900Mb service are actually around 960Mb as it’s a Gb service sold as 900Mb ( overheads reduce the speed , so it’s sold as 900Mb and  not 1Gb , that way no one can complain that 960 isn’t 1000Mb ).

No one guarantees WiFi speed , are there other routers with superior WiFi performance, Yes , but they are premium products , and cost significantly more than the ‘free’ router loaned with the BT service , nothing stopping anyone buying their own router if they want better WiFi performance , the SH2 is comparable with most ISP provided equipment.

As far as the OP , the only way a 900Mb service delivers 150Mb is if the service has been mis configured as 150Mb

Re: Lying multiple times ....

The k you for the reply... It was open reach who confirmed the 150 so has nothing to do with my WiFi interpretation or anything else....

I've had 20 years of business and private internet connections myself and neve had this poor of a service or difference in speed or just sheer arrogance pushed on me .. the company needs dissecting and redistributed to the other more capable suppliers, since open reach is now fully detached .
