If you are not affected, then just ignore it.

I am the broadband goes down and comes back. It is not a huge issue, but annoying. I ahve tried to ask BT what is happening - but can't get an answer.

Re: Major broadband fault across much of the UK

BT Retail are unlikely to know, as it going to be with BT Wholesale, who would be updating all their customers.

BT Retail would have visibility of any MSOs (Major Service Outages), as would other ISPs who use the BT Wholesale network.
