Re: Master Socket Wiring

You guys have highlighted the difference between download speed and line speed.

I have been running the bt wholesale speed test which has come up to 46 from between 10-22. Which is great. I was just expecting that test to come up to that guaranteed minimum of 50.

So where BT has said "We estimate you download speed will be...." That doesn't refer to what I should expect to see in that bt wholesale speed test?

Finding it difficult to seperate these two things in my head!

Re: Master Socket Wiring

Connection speed as defined by all ISP's includes overheads. Overheads are the extra information that needs to be transmitted for your connection to work and connect to sites etc.

Speedtests do not show this extra bandwidth used even though the speedtedt site has to make use of it.

Re: Master Socket Wiring

It is badly worded, it should state connection speed not download speed. Download speed will always be lower than connection speed due to protocol overheads.
