Months of uptime, now frequent disconnects

My line has been stable for months, with attainable rate around 125,000, and sysnc speed 79999, but in the last week I have had frequent disconnects, and DLM has now dropped my line to 73000.  The logs, on my router, state "

pppd:LCP terminated by peer

".  To me, this looks like the line has been dropped by the remote end, and may be an exchange fault.  Absolutely nothing has changed at my end.

Help!!

Re: Months of uptime, now frequent disconnects

did you try test socket with filter?

sis you try quiet line test to check for noise  dial 17070 option 2  should be quiet and best with corded phone

Re: Months of uptime, now frequent disconnects

Hi imjolly, it's not practical for me to connect to the test socket, as there is no power there, and would be in the way of the front door.  The quiet line test is fine.

The modem logs indicate that the PPP connection was dropped by the exchange, with no errors leading up to it.  This would indicate to me that the fault is at the exchange end, not mine.  Does BT keep logs for individual connections, as this is going to be a hard to get BT to investugate?

Re: Months of uptime, now frequent disconnects

You really need to try the test socket with a filter to eliminate your internal wiring and the faceplate from causing interference otherwise if that is the cause of the disconnections then you will probably be charged £130 for engineer visit

Re: Months of uptime, now frequent disconnects

I simply can't engineer that, which is why I knew that this was going to be difficult.  Another side effect, that I noticed this weekend, is that I can't stream UHD, but HD is fine. Before these dropouts I'd never had any issues with UHD.  I feel like that I'm between a rock, and a hard place, as I can't prove that it's an exchange problem.

PS: I've set up a syslog server, with modem logging level set to debug, just to see if I can get an insight into what's going on.

Re: Months of uptime, now frequent disconnects

Not using the test socket does not stop you from phoning CS on 151 and getting engineer visit but you may end up with charge if problem is your internal wiring as you cannot check whether problem exists when using test socket. As I said most of the time the connection dropping is a line problem whether internal or external between your home and cabinet

can you post stats from your hub. If hh6 then advanced settings then technical log information

Re: Months of uptime, now frequent disconnects

From your stats the numerous drops in connection have resulted in your connection ending up in a banded profile to try and stabilise your connection https://community.plus.net/t5/Library/FTTC-DLM-What-it-is-How-it-works/ba-p/1322799

Your attainable is now 87mb and probably due to more people being added to your cabinet it has dropped from previous high figure

you need to find the cause of your line dropping and normally that would start with connecting to test socket but if you can't then you are going to need engineer visit. You will need to agree to pay the call out fee if problem is on your side of test socket before CS will arrange engineer visit

Re: Months of uptime, now frequent disconnects

My speed is heading south again.  It was stable for around a week, but has disconnected again. I have no clue how to get this resolved.  As for the master socket position, it occured to me that the openreach engineer said that he had made the upstairs socket the master, so I've just removed the faceplate, and I think that's the  case.  I am now effectively in the master socket, so we'll see what happens.

Re: Months of uptime, now frequent disconnects

OK, After 4/5 days of being connected to the master socket, my connection has just dropped again.  My speed, which has been at 79999 for months is now down to 67000.  What are my next steps, how do I get this escalated?
