Moved BT Hub

We have BT 900 and have moved the router to a different location. Does it matter that we used CAT6 cable and didn’t use the proprietary red Ethernet cable included with the hub?

Because on the BT app it says we are using a third party hub with the CAT6 cable. We are also only getting wired speeds of about 90mbps.

Thanks

Re: Moved BT Hub

It should make no difference. I would look at a cable problem.

Re: Moved BT Hub

The cables are wired right if that’s what you was meaning. It does say on some BT help sites that disconnection a few times can put you on a slower line. Which it has been disconnected.

Re: Moved BT Hub

Is there a sharp bend in the cable where it plugs into the hub? if so it may not be making a good contact

Re: Moved BT Hub

Put the hub back where it was, using the cable supplied and re-check your speed. Then connect a laptop or PC to the hub using the suspect cable, run another speed test and compare the results
