Neighbour has fibre I can't

Go to solution

My neighbour has fibre but I can only get ADSL, how does that work?

When I enter neighbours house number:

But when I enter the post code or try BT order it only shows ADSL:

Hi @fusion does it show that you are both on the same exchange and cabinet number? It’s not unknown for next door neighbours to be in different cabinets.

Yes the same, its a new build. Never had openreach at my address. ADSL availability didn't show up before either when I moved in but does in the last few months.

I assume my address needs updating or something?

The most accurate results are with a phone number only post code is the least accurate

You need an active phone line to order broadband services

First, ring BT and see if you can order (even if you don't actually want services from BT, there probably the people best placed to give you an answer).

I had a similar issue in our not-quite-new-build estate that was updated (December '17) with Fibre 3 years after it was built. My neighbours could order, but I couldn't. There is a form you can complete on the openreach site - link can be found via this blog post about how I managed to resolve the issue and I recently, finally, have fibreoptic FTTP broadband. Be warned - it could take two or three months as OpenReach isn't always the quickest off the mark.

Thanks for the help.

I emailed openreach but also placed adsl order with sky. My address is now showing up on openreach site and it shows I can get fibre! I assume the new line order fixed it as opposed to openreach reading the email

Good news, yes the new line order may have pushed something through on their systems.

When you say you can get fibre - do you see FTTPoD or WBC FTTP on the checker?
