We have just had fibre connected today, having upgraded for gaming. We had problems with regular broadband speeds going up and down a lot....half way through watching something it would start buffering for 20 mins before coming back on. Today we have had the same issues now the fibre is connected. But while it was working ok today we did a speed test and all the results came back ok apart from for online gaming it was only scored 2 out of 5. Given this was the reason for upgrading, can anyone shed any light on why it's so poor?

You could have noise on your phone line, that would cause errors and delay, and would be present on both normal broadband and fibre (FTTC) broadband, as they both use the same copper pair of wires to your house.
Is there any noise on your phone calls? Dial 17070 and select option 2, there should be no noise between the announcements.
