New connection

I’ve just moved to a new build property and had a new connection made but the engineer connecting said it was copper wire and not the fibre I was expecting- my package says Halo 1. Given the current circumstances how do I get this corrected. I’ve queued on the phone first for an hour and an hour and a half respectively and on each occasion was cut off?

what can I do?

Re: New connection

@mickyt200

If you were expecting FTTP  (Fibre To The Premises), then that will not be happening until June, so you may have been put on a temporary ADSL connection. This cannot be corrected at present.

Is your broadband working at the moment?

What connection speed are you seeing?

If you are using the BT Smart hub you can get your connection stats by, Opening a new web browser on your connected device and type 192.168.1.254 or bthomehub.home into the address bar. This will open the Hub Manager.  Click Advanced Settings’ and then ‘Technical log’

Then your connection would be copper, the only fibre connection is FTTP.

That could be either a slow VDSL connection, or an ADSL2+ connection,  only the information from the home hub would determine that.
