New fibre cabinet 10m from house but Infinity 2 speed low

Hi,

We have just had a new fibre cabinet installed 10m from our house.

I signed up for Infinity 2.

The speeds I am getting look to be consistent with Infinity 1, not infinity 2. Definitely remember higher infinity 2 speeds at our previous address.

I am getting 40-41Mbps down and 8Mbps up. Does that sound reasonable for Infinity 2?

Being so close to the fibre cabinet - on relatively new copper - and hardly any users yet (new cabinet), I was expecting a LOT better than 40. I am pretty sure we were getting 55 at our previous address.

Im convinced I am actually on Infinity 1, but paying for Infinity 2....

same here.

Was promised minimum guaranteed 74mb... 40 feet from fibre cab, with line attentuation 3.3.

but getting 30 - 37mb... however router showing an SNR of 30.6... check the router stats... i think the openreach engineer wil have rushed the job like they did with mine!

@nickmin

n order to find out what services and speed range you should be getting, please enter your phone number into this form.
Broadband availability checker

Please remember to edit out your phone number before you post the results.

Then, if you have a HH5 can you go to hub manager then trobleshooting then helpdesk and post lines 1-12

Or post the information from the smart hub, using this link.

Could you please post the results from the BT Wholesale speed checker, including the further diagnostics.

Just because the cabinet is 10m away doesn't mean your line to it is 10m long.

Re: New fibre cabinet 10m from house but Infinity 2 speed low

I put my number into the form for the Broadband availability checker - got this message:

There is no data available for this number. This could be either because it is not a BT line or it is a new BT number that has just been provided. Most new numbers will appear on the checker 24 hours after BT has installed the line.

Its not a new number. Infinity 2 has been connected for a week. Phone line for a year...

From the HUB, I get the following diagnostics.

Furthermore, my next-door neighbour subscribed to Infinity 1.

You guessed it, his up/down numbers are identical to mine.

As your stats look OK it would appear you are connected to a different cabinet or your line takes the long way round.

Re: New fibre cabinet 10m from house but Infinity 2 speed low

Can you use your address on the dsl checker and post the results?

Even if you were subscribed to Infinity 1, your maximum data rate is below the "cap" of infinity 1 so it wouldn't make a difference. If your were connected at 55000 downstream and 10000 upstream then yes, but you're not.

Are you connected to the master socket? Or an extension?

Re: New fibre cabinet 10m from house but Infinity 2 speed low

My neigbour and I are connected to the same cabinet.

I know this because it is the only cabinet and it was just installed last month (after a year of bt messing us around)

The cabinet is out the front of my property.

Our physicall connection characteristics will be essentially the same - his copper lenght being slightly more than mine.

He gets the same download and upload speeds that I do. He is on Infinity 1. I am supposed to be on Infinity 2 (but clearly, I am not).
