No internet since 20/04 purple light on and off

Go to solution

We have an engineer visit booked sometime between 2-4 PM today but I wondered if anyone in this forum might have some insights that could help if we don’t get anywhere today.

I’ve had the same BT router and account since 2019, we’ve never moved it or touched it, since Sunday afternoon we’ve been being a purple flashing light suggesting there’s no internet connection to our router. We’ve followed all the troubleshooting guidance and tried the obvious steps and made sure everything is plugged in correctly.

The first outage occurred on the Sunday 20th around 4:30, cake back online around 2am.

The next day 21st the same outage with a flashing purple light occurred again, at almost the exact same time of day. This time it came back online about an hour later after a few reboots.

At 2am this morning (24th) the internet went down again, purple flashing light and hasn’t reconnected since. The engineer is due today (if they show up). However, I rely on the internet to work from home, I have no physical office I can go to and I live in a rural area so mobile networks are flakey around here, no 5G etc. I’m just about managing on mobile data, but obviously not ideal.

We’ve not had any issues since installation in 2019, no building works going on outside or near the exchange. The only recent changes in the past couple of months was the introduction of Virgin Media to our area, but I understand they have their own network cabling.

I’ve managed to capture the router logs from the first two instances which I can share. I’ve attached some screenshots of the logs at the time of one of the outages.

Anything else we can check and try in the meantime?

Purple light is a line fault which will need the engineer to locate.
