Node and spine cable explanation needed please?

Hi all my fibre cabinet got couple of blockages in the ducting that are being fixed and thus holding up my cabinet going live.

Spoke to open reach today and he said no spine cable currently in cabinet from the node can someone please explain what he meant my exchange is accepting orders by the way but few cabinets live yet do they turn them on together in groups ?

Re: Node and spine cable explanation needed please?

Fibre Optic cable from the fibre node (basically a junction box) to the cabinet.

IIRC an exchange will start accepting orders once 10 cabinets are fibre enabled. Extra cabs are added as they are commissioned.

Re: Node and spine cable explanation needed please?

Sounds like they still have to lay a fibre connection from the aggregation node to the cab

So is the node my exchange building?

Also do you mean 10 cabinets need to be ready in groups before you can order from each individually?

No, the aggregation node is in the street.

No and No.

The node is usually in a pit near to the  cab.

The exchange is flagged as accepting orders once the first 10 cabs are enabled (IIRC) then single cabs are added as soon as they are commissioned.

Re: Node and spine cable explanation needed please?

Where does spine cable come from and why is it not in the cabinet already?

So cabinets get switched on individually 1 at a time then irrespective of how many are ready?
