Normal timescale?

My Cabinet that I am connected to in the village has a shiny new FTTC cab installed right next to it.

My question is whats the timescale for a normal go live from the moment the cab is installed? bt wholesale checker on using my phone number says its not available, but the postcode checker says it is available and it will be Dec 2013.

But on checking BT openreach site the map checker says Jun 2013.

So my question is whats the rough time to go live from installation.

Cheers

Re: Normal timescale?

Hello AlanP, use this link here to check.

At the top it should say your phone number, exchange and cabinet. If it doesn't mention a cabinet number it means you're connected directly to the exchange and not via a cabinet. This meaning you will not be able to get FTTC.

If you're connected to a cabinet but it doesn't give you estimated dates for FTTC, that means your cabinet isn't currently in the rollout plans.

Re: Normal timescale?

Two months as a quesstimate, i think that's how long mine took from cab install to be able to order.

If it doesn't mention FTTC like you said when you enter your phone number into the BT Wholesale checker means it will not be available to you. The reasons are in my post as stated. Also, the dates are only placeholders it depends if they get any blocked ducts.

Re: Normal timescale?

OK I hear what you are saying, so I checked by putting my phone number in and it shows as me being connected to Cab 56.

now I know where Cab 56 is and right next to it is a brand spanking new FTTC cab.

so by checking by phone number, it doesnt show, but by checking by house and postcode is does... so which is right?

Re: Normal timescale?

The phone number checker is right. Some postcodes are served by more than one cab.

Re: Normal timescale?

ok, but if I know 100% I am served by cab 56, can the phone checker be wrong?

In VERY rare cases yes, but more than likely it is correct.
