Re: OpenRG Strikes Back.

I just had OpenRG rear its ugly head again. I was originally in contact with a mod but it seems as if they aren't getting back to me. Last Wednesday I was supported to get an engineer visit but at the time there was a big family crisis so I was out of the house until Sunday just passed. My last email was to inform the mod of the reason why I wasn't around (I sent the email Sunday.) And I have not had a reply since.

So I'm suffering OpenRG still and it seems the mod is no longer interested - I did leave the mod 2 contact numbers in the email and I still got no reply by email thus far or any calls. Its an irritating situation putting it nicely.

Re: OpenRG Strikes Back.

From what ive seen the mods get rotated a lot here, ive seen one start one week and was then listed as retired after a few weeks.

My hub5 / modem combo is still stable after 2 weeks, my line is back to full speed and the dslam has even put me back back to sub 15 pings.

Re: OpenRG Strikes Back.

Well my HH4 and OR modem was up just a little over 2 weeks as of yesterday then OpenRG popped out of the blue but even being up for the amount of time it had been I've still got an impacted service now my connection will last 3-4 days max as with previous experience with OpenRG. I remember when my connection used to stay up for months and never disconnect.

I wish my pre January 2014 connection would return - Obviously BT had done something in January in their network. We aren't all crazy as in December my up time was about 60-70 days uptime if I remember correctly.

Its a pipe dream for me at the moment to even hit 20 days. Smiley Very Happy

Read the event log bottom to top. This was what happened yesterday. So it looks like it wants to take my connection's innocence again lol.

Re: OpenRG Strikes Back.

Zar, I'm not sure what you are quoting there regarding the LAN ports. Thats related to your internal LAN rather than the WAN/Internet connection.

Re: OpenRG Strikes Back.

AndyCoffin

the mods do not get rotated regularly they work shifts and those posting on the boards also when on shift

and as for "ive seen one start one week and was then listed as retired after a few weeks." i have never seen that posted anywhere on these forums

Re: OpenRG Strikes Back.

I retract my statement, went looking thro my old posts to find the mods name and his record and found it was on the sky forums not bt.

my fault.

out of interest what is the rotation then? might help some people to know how long they may have to wait for an answer

Re: OpenRG Strikes Back.

I just wanted to update folks on my saga. I had the engineer visit today - Lovely fella. Anyway the short of it I found out I'm a little over 1/3rd of a mile from the street cab so I already knew I wouldn't achieve Infinity 2 speeds. He tested the line twice and found no errors and said the line was clean.

Essentially the whole instability/speeds where due to my line not able to support Infinity 2. My max range is infact 39Mb down and 6-7 up. Which I'm not too bothered about. So it looks like Infinity 1 Unlimited for me. I'm happy enough with that. So over heads -2Mb so I'm looking at 37Mb realistically which is fine.

SO -

My distance is further than I thought.

Line has no errors.

Instability/erratic speeds due to line not being able to cope.

BUT can max out Infinity 1 basically.

All in all I'm happy with result really. All I need to do is downgrade. If anyone is interested my original quoted speeds were 58Mb down and 18 up. It is a far cry far what I realistically can get now. But at least I know what the issue was and now it's sorted.

I wonder if I can get better uploads on Infinity 1? Hmmm just brain stroming. So what's the best/easiest way to downgrade to Infinity 1 since I can't achieve Infinity 2 anymore? Will it mess up my contract/billing? I'm curious.

I would like to keep this thread open still for the original OpenRG mystery though. Thanks!
