Openreach modem

Go to solution
Hi, I've been using an unlocked openreach modem with a solid connection for the last 18 days but my SR margin is 17.8 is this normal to be this high after 18 days without a disconnection, prior to this I was using a HH5 which would disconnect after exactly 14 days any info would be much appreciated

Re: Openreach modem

Does seem high but needs to be considered in the context of maximum data rate and sync speed. Mine has been at 12dB since February with sync of 34999 and max of around 49. Still waiting for DLM to remove the banding 😁

What does xdslcmd info --stats show?

Regards

Re: Openreach modem

What package are you on? What is the current sync rate and what is the max attainable rate?

Re: Openreach modem

And what is the sync rate? If much lower than the 58832 then this would explain the high SNRM.

# xdslcmd info --stats
xdslcmd: ADSL driver and PHY status
Status: Showtime
Retrain Reason: 1
Last initialization procedure status: 0
Max: Upstream rate = 16486 Kbps, Downstream rate = 48192 Kbps
Bearer: 0, Upstream rate = 16483 Kbps, Downstream rate = 34999 Kbps
Bearer: 1, Upstream rate = 0 Kbps, Downstream rate = 0 Kbps
[snip]

Re: Openreach modem

The maximum attainable rate is currently lower than the line rate so it would seem your line conditions are changing over time.

As the modem is unlocked have you considered monitoring with the DSLstats program to see what it's doing?
