I posted yesterday, but noticed it is in the wrong section, so am reposting in the correct section.
I switched to BT Fibre approx 24 months ago, upgrading from standard (Unfortunately I can't get infinity) At first it was brilliant, 16ms ping, 14 download and 1.6 upload. We had 1 issue before when the upload dramtically dropped, but an engineer came out and fixed it and the upload was then hovering around the 1.2 - 1.4 mark. But then all of a sudden, all I get now is 0.7!! Whereas ping and download are both pretty much the same. Personally ping and upload are more important to me than download. The reason I chose BT is because they supply the best. I was with a main competitor of BT before I switched and got speeds around 20ms ping 10 download and 0.7 upload. To be quite honest, it is pointless paying extra (almost double) with BT when I can get a far cheaper provider which will provide the same ping and upload.
Further to this, when switching to BT originally, I have been reading I should have received a new router (HH4 or 5) and I also should have received one when I upgraded from Standard to fibre optic!!!! Neither occasion was I offered, or received a new Hub. I also do have issues with the HH3 as I am unable to open ports, getting the error message that the port is in conflict with another device/port range/etc even though it will never let you set up a device/range to be forwarded in the first place for there to be any conflict with.
I really need some help here please, I can post speedtests from the past 24 months etc... As I have them all, any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
BT Fibre is Infinity. Are you on ADSL or Infinity as your upload figure would imply ADSL2+?
Your post yesterday was moved to the Infinity board as you said you had fibre.
Thanks for reply, ADSL2+ I beleive.
Here are the figures/results from the link,
which router are you using?
can you post any stats from your router
run btspeedtester and when first test complete4s then run diagnostic test and post results
you can have a fibre conenction fron checker results
I am using the BT Homehub 3. I should have received a HH4 or HH5 when I first switched to BT, and also when we upgraded from standard, however, neither occassion did we get offered one or receive one. Only recently come to light we should have had one.
Here are the results from the further diagnostics:
That profile indicates that you are on Infinity 1, but your download speed is very poor probably due to you using a HH3, which I am surprised that it even worked.
Do you have a white Openreach modem as well? I would imagine that you do.
Did you run the speed test using a direct Ethernet cable to your computer?
I will move this back to the Infinity board, as your upload profile indicates Infinity 1.
Yeah I have a white Openreach modem and I use a wired ethernet to my PC.
Is there anything else you would like me to do?
Your help is greatly appreciated.
Connect things up like this and run the speed test again.
Diial 17070 and select option 2, and see if you can hear any noise.
Its also worth checking your internal wiring.
