OK - thanks for that - did a quick Google there while waiting on reply and that's right enough.

Very many thanks to everyone who chipped in today.

Looks like I'll have to wait until Thursday now till the engineer arrives.

Or try a different router, as I suggested. It would save a wait until Thursday, and would prove whether the home hub was the cause of the problem.

Just another thought - the Home Hub 5 didn't seem to be favourably reviewed as I recall.

I have loads connected such as Google Home Units, Home Control devices etc.

Would I be better off opting for something better to connect to my Infinity2?

If anyone has recommendations I'd be very pleased to consider them.

My wife is in palliative care at home and not IT friendly but she can converse with Goggle Home and switch lights on/off etc - so having a reliable service is important on many fronts.

I can recommend theTP-Link TD-W9970 N300 for about £30 or less.

You can pick one up at Argos or PCW.

I do have more comprehensive information on my website, I assume you are accessing using a mobile at the moment?

No Keith - actually having the hub working just now between drops.

Will check out Argos - and again I'm very grateful for the kind assistance.

In that case take a look at this link TP Link replacement

People have reported that it does not suffer from the dropping out that the home hubs suffer from. So its worth a try.

I have not had any issues connecting any devices to it, and my neighbour, who uses the guest netwok, has all Apple stuff, and that connect fine as well.

This seems the way to go Keith.

Argos only have the N300 so for the sake of a few more days I'll wait till the engineer checks my hub out and then if faulty he'll hopefully replace and I'll have a spare.

TP-Link will defo be worth a try though and again your help is appreciated.

The N300 is the one.  572/8882 is that the one they are showing?

TP-Link TD-W9970 N300

If you are out of contract, then you would be charged for the visit.

That's the one - I'll order it now.

Meanwhile - even though the hub didn't do the factory reset I can now connect to it via my browser. Weird.

I do like the idea of the TP-Link one though and a spare is always a bit of contingency.

THanks again as you have been extremely helpful.

Quite a few people, including myself, us that one. Its got lots of extras like bandwidth controls, and even 3G backup if you need it.

The guest network is also useful if you get visitors.

As you say, either way, its useful as a spare to prove where the fault is.

If you like, you can rename its SSID and password, to make it the same as the home hub, just to save having to change all the devices.
