Re: Daily disconnections due to "https://pbthdm.bt.mo/" update error!

After finally getting my full speed back about five weeks ago due to I assume DLM been removed(introduced by .204 firmware disconnections and cleared with the fix update) I have now for the last two weeks had daily disconnections due to an "https://pbthdm.bt.mo" updates error which again has introduced DLM and my speed is now lower than what it was prior to DLM been removed.

Helpdesk stats from 17/02/15 without DLM:

1. Product name: BT Home Hub
2. Serial number:+xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
3. Firmware version: Software version 4.7.5.1.83.8.204 (Type A) Last updated 23/01/15
4. Board version: BT Hub 5A
5. DSL uptime: 0 days, 08:32:12
6. Data rate: 9219 / 39952
7. Maximum data rate: 11218 / 40103
8. Noise margin: 4.5 / 5.8
9. Line attenuation: 36.8 / 23.4
10. Signal attenuation: 36.8 / 22.1

Helpdesk stats as of today due to disconnections:

1. Product name: BT Home Hub
2. Serial number: +xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
3. Firmware version: Software version 4.7.5.1.83.8.204 (Type A) Last updated 23/01/15
4. Board version: BT Hub 5A
5. DSL uptime: 0 days, 02:39:46
6. Data rate: 8075 / 33478
7. Maximum data rate: 9705 / 39595
8. Noise margin: 5.5 / 8.5
9. Line attenuation: 36.6 / 23.5
10. Signal attenuation: 37.1 / 22.1

This I believe is the cause of these disconnections, HH5 connecting to "https://pbthdm.bt.mo/ " (home) looking for updates and each time causing error due to no response on first try and having to re-connect for success. This happens at 00:39 and 11:37 each day:

11:42:11, 30 Mar. (40042.200000) CWMP: session completed successfully
11:42:10, 30 Mar. (40041.840000) CWMP: HTTP authentication success from https://pbthdm.bt.mo
11:42:03, 30 Mar. (40034.600000) CWMP: Server URL: https://pbthdm.bt.mo; Connecting as user: ACS username
11:42:03, 30 Mar. (40034.590000) CWMP: Session start now. Event code(s): '4 VALUE CHANGE'
11:38:56, 30 Mar. (39847.910000) CWMP: session closed due to error: No response
11:38:56, 30 Mar. (39847.880000) CWMP: Server URL: https://pbthdm.bt.mo; Connecting as user: ACS username
11:38:56, 30 Mar. (39847.870000) CWMP: Session start now. Event code(s): '4 VALUE CHANGE'
11:38:26, 30 Mar. (39817.510000) CWMP: session closed due to error: No response
11:38:26, 30 Mar. (39817.490000) CWMP: Server URL: https://pbthdm.bt.mo; Connecting as user: ACS username
11:38:26, 30 Mar. (39817.480000) CWMP: Session start now. Event code(s): '4 VALUE CHANGE'
11:38:26, 30 Mar. (39817.120000) CWMP: Initializing transaction for event code 4 VALUE CHANGE

Have tried factory reset to no avail. Is there anything else I can do to stop this error each time it connects to "https://pbthdm.bt.mo" or is my HH5 broken due to the .204 update and need replacing. Quiet line test is silent, no hiss or crackle, have no extensions or wiring, connected directly to Mk3 faceplate on master socket which is only a wall width from line outside, engineer install.

Thank you in advance for any help.

Re: Daily disconnections due to "https://pbthdm.bt.mo/" update error!

Looks like your disconnection at 11:37 is happening before the entries you posted which are time-stamped at 11:38.

It is usual for the Hub to connect to pbthdm.bt.motive.com after a reconnection.

Re: Daily disconnections due to "https://pbthdm.bt.mo/" update error!

The disconnections are at 11.38(as well as 00:39), the same time, made a mistake sorry, not 11.37.

As already said the first time it tries to connect to "https://pbthdm.bt.mo" it supposedly gets no response and causes the HH5 to lose connection and reconnect for it to complete successfully. Was hoping you would be able to tell me if this is normal behavior for the HH5 or is it broken, prior to two weeks ago it was connecting to "https://pbthdm.bt.mo" successfully without reconnect twice a day. Don,t understand why it needs to call home all the time, surely once a week would be enough considering there is only very few updates, again is this normal behavior for the HH5.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Did you manage to resolve this?  I think I have a similar issue to you.

Re: Daily disconnections due to "https://pbthdm.bt.mo/" update error!

I've been dogged by random disconnections for months and it turns out they are related to this condition.

I recently had a visit from an Openreach engineer who changed the NTE to the most recent version and checked the connections outside the property for good measure. He confirmed that the electrical connections are all sound, there are no underlying line conditions (that he could detect) which should affect my connection.

All seemed well for a couple of days, but the disconnections have started again.

That's when I noticed a pattern.

EVERY disconnection is preceded by:

21:02:04, 05 Oct.(1040781.070000) CWMP: session closed due to error: No response
21:02:04, 05 Oct.(1040781.040000) CWMP: Server URL: https://pbthdm.bt.mo; Connecting as user: ACS username
21:02:04, 05 Oct.(1040781.030000) CWMP: Session start now. Event code(s): '4 VALUE CHANGE'
21:01:34, 05 Oct.(1040750.620000) CWMP: session closed due to error: No response
21:01:31, 05 Oct.(1040747.440000) CWMP: Server URL: https://pbthdm.bt.mo; Connecting as user: ACS username
21:01:31, 05 Oct.(1040747.430000) CWMP: Session start now. Event code(s): '4 VALUE CHANGE'
21:01:30, 05 Oct.(1040747.020000) CWMP: Initializing transaction for event code 4 VALUE CHANGE

Note - 2 x "sessionclosed due to error: No response"

The HH5 ALWAYS makes two attempts, then disconnects/reconnects after the second, then makes further attempts after reconnecting, usually successfully on the first attempt.

It seems the disconnect/reconnect behaviour is programmed into the HH5 after 2 x unsuccessful attempts.

If my line's ruled out as the weak link, it does seem to point to issues with BT's ACS platform and the HH5's pre-programmed way of dealing with it, because on the rare occasions I'm on the computer and sitting next to the router, connectivity is perfectly fine up until the point the router starts its TR069 cycle.

Re: Daily disconnections due to "https://pbthdm.bt.mo/" update error!

Been plagued with this today as well on a HH4.

Engineer out yesterday to sort our bad connection, fixed it nice and now this.

Engineers have been fiddling on lines between here an cabinet this afternoon though for somebody elses fault.

Has sent our connection profile down to 0.35 due to multiple disconnects.

Re: Daily disconnections due to "https://pbthdm.bt.mo/" update error!

I've just come across this thread and funnily enough I see similar entries in my router stats today

15:59:09, 08 Oct.(698671.570000) CWMP: session completed successfully
15:59:08, 08 Oct.(698671.380000) CWMP: HTTP authentication success from https://pbthdm.bt.mo
15:59:05, 08 Oct.(698667.540000) CWMP: Server URL: https://pbthdm.bt.mo; Connecting as user: ACS username
15:59:05, 08 Oct.(698667.540000) CWMP: Session start now. Event code(s): '4 VALUE CHANGE'
15:59:04, 08 Oct.(698667.130000) CWMP: Initializing transaction for event code 4 VALUE CHANGE

I've no idea what this lot means

BT tinkering with your hub yet again. Main reason I won't have one.

"It means everything went well"  hehe crikey I'd better throw a party and celebrate then. It's the first time something has gone well with BT in 3 years :smileysurprised:
