Re: PPP LCP Send Termination Request - BT HH5

Having tried two HH5's and still getting the same problems with daily downtime I'm ready to throw in the towel.

Constant, daily loss of connection (wireless devices tjink they're connected but only to the hub, not the gateway).

Also requently drops overnight in the early hours until a reboot in the morning.

The only way to reconnect is to reboot the hub which means that online support then considers the problem "fixed" when it runs a diagnotic line and connection test. Have done the usual master socket tests, replaced microfilters etc.

 

Typically looks like this overnight:

Welcome to this user forum.

 

I have moved your post to a new thread, so you can get help from the community.

 

Have you considered using a third party VDSL modem/router, others have found that it stops the problem and performs better, with good wireless coverage because most have proper external wireless aerials, and not internal ones like the HH5 and HH6?

 

Common suggestions are the TP-Link TD-W9970 N300 for about £35 or the TP-Link TDW9980 for about £60.

 

Its worth making sure there are no problems with noise on your phone line first.

 

Is there any noise on your phone calls? Dial 17070 and select option 2, there should be no noise between the announcements.

Thanks for the router tips. Internet access via wired ethernet also fails (you can ping the hub but not the gateway) and it's the same in other parts of the house. Before Infinity I had a great and stable connection through a Draytek Vigor router (which was incompatible with Infinity). Looks like a third party is the way to go.

Just get an Openreach modem from eBay and use the Draytek
