You are probably connecting to your mobile network instead.
Click on this link and see what the page says BT Broadband check
You are connected via your mobile on the EE network, right ?
You are routed via an Orange cell site.
Do you get any dial tone on the phone while plugged into the test socket?
If you don`t, then your master socket is wired up wrong, and the line is coming in on the bottom removable section instead, which is totally wrong, and will not work properly.
Something is very wrong with your internal wiring, its almost like you have another filtered socket somewhere, which is only passing the phone signal to the back terminals of the master socket, and passing the broadband signal to the back of that bottom section.
What date was your BT service activated, this is important?
11th of December, don’t know if it helps but I’m still able to log onto bt on an old account from over a year ago it was never closed when I cancelled that account

Right, you are entitled to a free visit to sort out the wiring and speed issue.
See Early Life Failures - moderator post
I will ask a moderator to arrange this for you.
I have asked a moderator to provide assistance, they will post an invite on this thread.
They are the only BT employees on this forum, and are based in the UK.
It will be tomorrow before they post that link, meanwhile, I would just put things back as they were.
That wiring error will be the cause of all your problems.
