Road markings

Infinity is supporsed to be enabled immenantly on cabinets in my area. Just outside the street cabinet has appeared blue writing on the road which reads TLU then about 8 or 9 digets. Is this some sign of progress?

Re: Road markings

Coloured writing on pavements or roads are usually marking buried services.  Blue is traditionally water, so perhaps they have marked a water main so that someone doesn't drill into it by accident.

Re: Road markings

Ok thanks .. as it is within a foot of the street cabinet (and openreach are digging up roads almost for fun) running fibre within 100m from the area I thought perhaps they were finally doing something! I suppose they could be warning BT that a water main is there before they did the road up 😉

Re: Road markings

The chances are that somebody has recently done a survey, with the expectation that someone's going to start digging soon.

Re: Road markings

Just an update for those who might find themselves in the same situation. The blue marked section of road was dug up by a contractor for Btopenreach - seems they don't care what colour paint they use! So far only a pipe with a pull through rope!

Hi pbwpu,

Have you checked the following websites to see if there is any information on any of them that may help you :-

What county are you in ?

Re: Road markings

As said previously most likely a survey was done earlier and the blue markings were just a warning that there was a water maiin.

All the different services (gas water etc) are at different depths. The warning could just be to remind the JCB driver not to go too deep.

Re: Road markings

Devon. Nothing on the 2 official sites, fttc-check gives my exchange info suggesting exchange upgrade September 2014. I had better luck looking at the roadworks page for my area. Originally "Install 20m of 1 way power duct in Carriageway" now Erect "1 PCP cabinet and base" + "NGA cabinets" We now have 2 new cabinets (sadly not the cabinet i'm connected on - its only 100yrds or so away though from those upgraded) pippincp: "As said previously most likely a survey was done earlier and the blue markings were just a warning that there was a water maiin." I thought that but they have marked every place they are working on with blue over a 1/2 a mile or so 🙂 Starman might be closer to the truth!
