Slow Speed

Hello,

With sky fibre i had around 28-30mbps but am only able to get 6-7mbps with BT. I have a brand new latest openreach master socket, an engineer been out and done tests from my home to exchange. Am at a loss as why is slow, i understand within ten days but would expected by now get better speed after 5 days.

Re: Slow Speed

There's obviously something wrong with your line so only 2 reasonably checks to do. Remove the faceplate and the interim plate and connect to the test socket with a filter. Do a quiet line test 17070 option2, best with corded phone but if with cordless may get a background hum. Any noise report a line fault on 151 don't mention broadband as you will be put through to the wrong dept.

Repost stats while in test socket.

Re: Slow Speed

Very rare to see worse stats in the test socket (lower maximum downstream rate), which would suggest that there's a wiring problem with the socket. Quiet line tests carried out with a corded phone should be completely silent. Can you try completing the test with the face plate connected? Regardless of what ever is causing the problem, the higher downstream maximum data rate is only just above the handback threshold, which even if the line was connected at the target SNRM. Taking into account overheads would mean that it's very likely that your line wouldn't connect at the threshold anyway, meaning that you would be entitled to an engineer.

Re: Slow Speed

Hi @fregrin,

Thanks for your posts and welcome back!

Sorry that your broadband speed isn't performing near the speed we told you you'd get when you placed your order.  It's a strange one as connecting to the test socket gave you a slower speed than what you were seeing connected to the socket normally.  That doesn't happen very often for sure @Techwizz

Can you send us over your details and we'll look at your connection from here?  Click on my username here >> RobbieMac << and you'll see our contact link underneath my profile picture.

Cheers,

Robbie
