Slow download, fast upload?

Go to solution

Hello all,

Got a problem with a download speed of 2 to 4 meg with an upload of 13 to 18 meg.

The download speed was up to 75 meg a 6 months ago after an engineer came so it must have been fixed,

what erks is the BT speed checker says 4 meg is good speed but doesn't give upload!

Anyone any ideas or will it be the wild goose chase of trying to get in touch with BT by phone.

Thanks

Steve

Can you post the connection stats from the hub.

HH6 Advanced settings/technical log.

HH5 Troubleshooting/helpdesk.

Have you tested for line noise? 17070 option2.

Have you connected to the test socket with filter to see if that improves your connection?

Thanks for quick reply, here's the HH5 helpdesk and the Microsoft speed test for the last couple of days,

HH5 Helpdesk.PNGNetwork Speed Test.PNG

We had a new master socket fitted 6 months back but I haven't tried the test socket yet, there is also no line noise.

Your down connection speed is very low so see if test socket makes any improvement

Hi @imjolly,

Apologies for the interruption.  Regarding your recommendation of speedtest.net, it is not working this morning.

However, http://legacy.speedtest.net/ is.

You can always try :

https://speedof.me

No Flash/Java is required. Works on PCs, tablets and phones, both Apple and Android. No Apps to download.

For a quick test of download speed, you can always try the simple but very effective Netflix checker on :

https://fast.com/

Re: Slow download, fast upload?

Hi all,

Took the router up stairs and plugged into the master socket, no change to speed 3meg download 12 upload.

Looks like I need to contact BT for a engineer to visit, anyone know a number to ring? just seem to go round in circles using the web pages.

Also had a phone call from "BT" this morning saying the line was hacked and they were going to disconnect it, seems a bit fishy, the call was taken by a none techy person so she said ring back at 2:00pm which they haven't done, a scam?

Thanks for help
