Slowish speeds on Infinity 2 after DLM Process

Go to solution

Hello,

I moved in at the start of April and have had an active line for 15+ days now. I'm connected to what I think is  the master socket (first entry point to property), but it is a super old faceplate with no test socket inside to try.

Speedtests show the line working at about 54/15, with the official BTW speedtest showing 51.52/13.26. The modem is synced at  datarates of 20.00 Mbps / 62.18 Mbps. The BT signup page for the service said "Your minimum download speed 67mb".

These are the line stats:

Screenshot 2019-04-21 at 22.59.23.png

And modem details:

Product name:
BT Hub 6A

Firmware version:
SG4B1000B540

Firmware updated:
08-Apr-2019

Board version:
1.0

Gui version:
1.64.0

Data rate:
20.00 Mbps / 62.18 Mbps

Maximum data rate:
27454 / 62571

Noise margin:
10.7 dB / 6 dB

Line attenuation:
14.6 dB

Signal attenuation:
VPI / VCI:
0/38

Modulation:
G_993_2_ANNEX_B

Latency type:
Fast Path

Given the line stats suggest I should see mid 70s - is there anything I can investigate? Is it worth requesting an engineer visit to look at the 1980s style faceplates / wiring? Or am I likley stuck with the current speed?

Any line noise try dial 17070 option 2 should be silent and best with corded phone
Do you have extension sockets in other rooms?
Are you connected direct to filter - no extension cable used

Thanks, line dial test is silent - no noise issues.

There are a number of extension sockets, nothing is connected to them however.

I am using this decent quality 5m RJ11 cablebut I have tried without using the provided RJ11 cable into the filter and not seen any noticable difference.

As you are a new customer and not getting the minimum speed call it in and request an engineer.

Hi @aldmunch,

Welcome to the community forum.

As your not getting the minimum download speed of 67mb, I'll be able to take a look at your connection and run a few test on your line.

I've sent you an private message with details on how you can contact the mod team.

Thanks

PaddyB

Hi @aldmunch

Thanks for taking the time to chat with me this afternoon.

I have double checked your broadband speed and it's connected at 62Mbps.  I can see that your minimum guaranteed speed is 45Mbps.  As long as your broadband speed doesn't drop below that it wouldn't be classed as a fault condition.  If something does happen that causes your broadband speed to go below that, feel free to post back and we'll happily take another look.

Cheers,

Robbie
