Speed dropping slowly

Go to solution

Hi,

I ordered fibre 2 years ago the same week it became available in my area and got a good speed of 74mb. Slowly over the 2 years it has crept down until now its at 59mb. It seems to lose speed every month.

Data Rate: 20000 / 63905

Maximum Data Rate: 22446 / 63914

Noise Margin: 7.2 / 6.4

Line Attenuation: 19.7 / 15.5

Signal Attenuation: 0.0 / 0.0

What happens is the noise margin start off at 6.5 then goes down to like 6 which then causes a re connect which goes back up to 6.5 but then ive lost speed. this happens like once a month.

Anyone got any ideas?

Can you put your number into here http://www.dslchecker.bt.com and post up a screenshot of the results?

is the estimated speed not 61.5? im getting 59.

As the cabinet fills up with connections does the speed generally fall due to less capacity?

You're getting 64 not 59. Speed generally falls as the cabinet fills due to crosstalk interference, not less capacity.

The ranges on that checker refer to sync rate. Your hub is connected at 63.9.
