Recently moved from Fibre 250 to 900. And I've been trying to use the App and my PC to test my Speed from my ONT to my Smart Hub 2 to validate what speeds I'm getting correctly. Neither are working for me at the minute.
My ONT is 2 yards from my Smart Hub and PC (New PC with 1000/1000 intel NIC)
App tells me nothing on my phone, but -1mb
Speed Test on my BT account doesn't run anymore, because there is a fault, But was resolved, but now can't re-run test as it takes me that page.
Other Speedtest sites ran on my PC give me different results.
My upload speed seems fine, But my download speed is all over the place. Hence why I want to Test from ONT to HUB to validate results correctly.
Still getting majorly different results and can't test ONT to HUB
Does anyone have any other suggestions?
Direct PPPOE to PC giving same results 😞
Ofcom speedtest giving me my best result at PPPOE below
If that's correct I'm 100mb off speed, I'm going to monitor the speeds of the next couple of days. Any other suggestions would be helpful.
Speed to hub will never work on FTTP as there is an ONT in the way and the speed between hub and ONT is 1Gb.
The screenshot of the hub that you posted shows the data rate between ONT and hub as 1Gb
Of course not, it cannot be with an FTTP connection as the hub does not negotiate the connection, the ONT does.
Yea sorry was getting confused, the "the Speed to your Hub" sounded like a speed test, not a Data rate test, my bad 🙂 So far my ONT showing download speeds for 700-820mb. Even worse my exchange is 20 yards from my house.
If you were on FTTC where the hub does negotiate the connection then "the speed to your hub" would be a speed test.
Your exchange is immaterial your connection may not even come from there. It depends on which exchange is connected to the FTTP node which you are.
Double checked my home network for issues with wiring and none, thats the speed from my unraid server to my PC through my Hub. Also checked with PPPOE straight to PC. No issue's my end.
Thanks for advice, I'll just have to contact BT and ask why I'm not getting Full speed and hopefully don't get this Speed Promise **bleep**.
@pippincp Thank you
