Started to see packet loss during peak times HELP!!

10e3dee45aceb1e1c32794d91cbe727ffc213a13

Could anyone help me with the packet loss I am all of a sudden getting between 6pm - 12pm the only thing connected to the router is a HARD WIRED Xbox One X. WiFi is turned of at the router.

Also my graph never used to have so much yellow.

Things I have tried so far: that have mad no difference at all.

Removed the faceplate and plugged modem in to the test socket (tried 2 different filters)

Tried a different modem and changed cables

And to make it clear there are No landline phones is plugged in and there is no phone extension cabling.

To be totally honest I think my Fibre Cabinet may by experiencing a high volume of traffic at peak times which is causing the packet loss I am seeing as I have still seen packet loss when I am not at home and there is nothing turned on apart from the modem.

Can anyone offer any advice on how I can get this fixed or who I need to speak to?

Thanks in advance for any replies.

Packet loss occuring during peak times, only thing being used during this time is an Xbox One X, nothing is being downloaded just a multiplayer game running so I should not be seeing any packet loss unless my area is suffering from over utilisation perhaps someone could give me some advice please?

Re: Started to see packet loss during peak times HELP!!

Here is yet another graph showing the previous 24 hours

Please note the connection was not even being used at all between (Noon) 12pm / 12am (Midnight) so why am I seeing so much activity on the think broadband graph?

Could someone please reply to this thread and let me know what I can do or who I need to speak to to try and resolve these issues I am having?

Anyone else had or having similar issues during peak times it spoils my gaming experience and I would love to get it fixed otherwise I guess I will have to think about switching providers.

Re: Started to see packet loss during peak times HELP!!

Probably because you are not actually seeing any packet loss, only an increase in latency, which is expected during peak times when traffic levels are high.

Dropped packets would show up as red on your graph.

Hi Keith thank you for replying however can you not see all the RED at the top of the graphs?

The packet loss is at the top of the graph and I experience between 5% / 15% during peak times, this as only started over the past couple of weeks and I have had BT for several years....

To say I am not getting any packet loss is concerning and not at all useful.

Please look again at my graphs and advise me on who I should contact to get it resolved.

Re: Started to see packet loss during peak times HELP!!

I can see it now, it was just not very clear.

Assuming that you are using an Ethernet connection and not a wireless one, then it may possibly due to errors on your line, but its going to be almost impossible to prove.

If you are using a wireless connection, then packet loss it very likely due to wireless interference.

Hi Keith, if you read the first post I clearly say the following

"Could anyone help me with the packet loss I am all of a sudden getting between 6pm - 12pm the only thing connected to the router is a HARD WIRED Xbox One X. WiFi is turned of at the router."

I am thinking more of a high usage (over utilisation issue) more than a line issue as I am only experiencing issues during peak times.

So my question remains who do I need to speak to in order to get the CAB checked out for high peaktime use and or cause of packet loss?
