Sync speed 80 but ipprofile 70?

The hub is connected to the master socket (it`s the only socket, no extensions, only 1 cordless phone base) using a 0.5 metre cable. Also tried the test socket, no improvement there. Could it be a stale or stuck profile, or maybe crosstalk? It`s not a big deal, we`re still happy with the speeds, just curious.

Re: Sync speed 80 but ipprofile 70?

Thanks for the reply. All tests have been run with IE using ethernet cable to PC. Actual downloading speeds on the PC never exceed 70. Wi fi speeds only drop a bit to 67-68.

Also, the DLM re-synced 8-9 days ago (possibly due to connecting a newer, thicker dsl cable to the hub a few days earlier), increasing the sync speed from 76 to 80, which also increased the actual speed from 64-65 to the current 68-69. It appears there is always approx 14-15% speed difference between the sync and actual speed.

Re: Sync speed 80 but ipprofile 70?

Which is due to the overheads in the different protocols in use. Sync speed will always be greater than download speed.

Re: Sync speed 80 but ipprofile 70?

@licquorice  there is something not right as sync speed is 80mb but profile is only 70mb - should be a lot higher

Re: Sync speed 80 but ipprofile 70?

True. But the noise margin is only 4.5dB so there is possibly a lot of re-transmission going on which will reduce the download speed further.

Re: Sync speed 80 but ipprofile 70?

I saw that as well but profile should be based on connection speed

Re: Sync speed 80 but ipprofile 70?

I'm not sure what %age of sync speed the IPprofile is set to for lines with 3dB margin configured, it might be lower than the usual 96.8%.  For DLM retransmission high profiles it is apparently 91% so might be even lower for 3dB profiles.
