Re: Termination Request.

It seems like a logical step to take.

I hope the mod can arrange all of these at some point  as it would rule out everything locally. Thanks!

I need someone to clear this up for me about the noise margins.
I saw a fella on here with a high noise margin on both the up and down and was told they both need to be near to 6.0 on both.
Well my up is always spot on 6.0 but my down noise margin varies from 11.5 to the low tens - So would it mean my down noise is an issue? Or do both need to be high to be classed as a problem? I'm confused as I'm being told its fine even though my down noise is way higher and my upstream is on the optimum. How can that be the case?

The optimum SNR on Infinity is 6 on both the up and the down. The reason your SNR is higher on the download, is because you cannot achieve the best download speed of your line simply because the line has been capped at 39993 (ie infinity 1). If you were on Infinity 2, then your noise margin would drop nearer to the ideal of 6, and your download speed would increase nearer to the maximum rate for your line.

For further information about noise margin, then have a look at http://www.kitz.co.uk/adsl/linestats.htm#SNR

Re: Termination Request.

Thanks for this.

There just is so much to check settings wise to comparable issues I'm just clutching at straws still and running out of steam with my 8 month saga. I do deep down know there is a solution but trying to pinpoint it just seems impossible. I'm still going to keep at it though.

Here's hoping for a solution in the not so near distant  future.... lol.Smiley LOL

Edit - My connection dropped earlier as usual but I got some weird entries that looks like it started 2 days ago looking back in the logs -

Re: Termination Request.

Hi MarkG33,

I have been reading your thread for the past 2 days and I am fascinated to know whether your issue has been solved, there is loads of troubleshooting information in your thread which I find very useful to refer to.

Regards,

Paul

Re: Termination Request.

I'm still suffering from this issue unfortunately. Its been over a year. Multiple engineer visits confirm my internal wiring is fine and my phone line and the signal is perfect. Even with the nre hh5 update I still get it. I get it using the openreach white modem that stays up for 2 weeks and goes off.
All the tricks and the like on here haven't worked despite it happening for so long. There is no cable here not any other better alternative so I will just put up with it because no one on here not even the expert posters truly no what causes it. I do think it is to do with BT. In December 2013 it worked. In January 2014 it went downhill when everyone was complaining about the hh5 and the 1.6 update. Coincidence? I don't think so. There is still damage control on this problem because no one knows what to do.

Re: Termination Request.

Hi MarkG33,

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you and what a drag, I thought BT was nearly there with getting your problem solved, I really high hopes for you as well.

Regards,

Paul

Yes, I would replace everything, starting from the router (done) modem (done) cables (done) master socket (tbd) dropwire (tbd) pair to cab (tbd) line card (tbd) lift-and-shift (tbd).

I had a very similar problem with "Termination requests", lasting some 18 months. I had more engineers, more modems, more Home Hubs, more third party routers and more face plates than you can shake a stick at.

My drop wire always looked like it belonged in a museum to me, but engineers refused to change it, saying my line was fine. I then got the mods involved who sent a history of my problems to OR, who sent another engineer. This time, he agreed to fit a new drop wire and guess what? PROBLEM SOLVED!

I had my new drop wire a month ago. DLM has now retrained my previously much compromised line up to the speeds I was always estimated I should get.  I have only had two resynchs in the past month, and one of them was a firmware upgrade for the HH5. I now actually love the HH5, now that the line fault has been fixed.
I'm not saying the drop wire is the cause in your case but surely OR need to consider it. I was told that mine was 50 years old, the insulation was knackered and it was causing random shorting, worse in cold and wet. Have you noticed the problem getting worse since  winter set in?
