Hi all. Briefly....
Had standard ADSL rural broadband for the past 8 years. Always been about 5-6meg (apart from about 3 months ago where our speed doubled! bizarre... but recently went back to normal.. what was THAT about?)
anyway, checked recently and we are able to get "superfast fibre" so we upgraded, new smart hub arrived a few days ago and our new broadband connection went live this AM
Speed tested and I was greeted with 2 MBPS!
Upload speeds have gone up but the download speed has dropped by 2 thirds... WTF?!
All was fine last night. 100% since the switch over this am. I am fuming
Can anyone advise? is there usually a problem going from adsl copper to this new superfast (!) fibre 1?
All wiring is fine in the house, do I need an engineer to visit? I absolutely cannot deal with the india based tech call centres! I repeat the same thing 10 times and nothing EVER gets resolved.
Can anyone help direct me to get an engineer out? this is totally ridiculous. I keep being fobbed off with "stabilisation periods" which is utter rubbish... ive dropped to 1/3 of my OLD speed... no stabilisation is going to sort that
please don't reset the hub a few time as that will make matters worse you need to maintain a stable conenction
can you post stats from your hh6 advanced settings then technical log information
enter your phone number and post results remember delete number https://www.btwholesale.com/includes/adsl/main.html

It would not have been worth upgrading, as your expected speed range (7.1 to 13.7mbs) is not going to be much better than you had on ADSL, if that is what you were using before.
Your maximum possible rate is only showing 8.3Mbs, which may eventually be reached.
ADSL was 9 to 11.5Mbs.
my previous ADSL speed was 6 meg (rural property joy)
2 month ago my speeds almost doubled with zero input from me. 10meg then returned back to 6 again.
So this upgrade would be worthwhile effectively doubling my speeds which will makes things more useable for me
All the tech help guys say is "stabilisation 10 days etc etc"
Is a speed DROP by 2 thirds really a stabalisation issue? i suspect not??
You have to bear in mind that VDSL uses much higher frequencies than ADSL, which your line may not support.
DLM starts the speed at maximum, so if its dropped off by now, I would suspect that your line quality is not that good, perhaps there is high frequency noise pickup?
Whether it will improve in time, is difficult to say, as the home hub does not report line errors.
The fact that your ADSL speed dropped, would tend to indicate poor line quality, Is there any noise on your phone calls?
VDSL does not tolerate any noise on the line.
