Upgrading to Ultrafast Fibre Plus from Superfast Fibre 2 Unlimited

Hello,

I have few questions before upgrading my current broadband package (Superfast Fibre 2 Unlimited) to Ultrafast Fibre Plus for only few extra pounds. I have been with BT for many years and I am currently using my own router (ASUS RT-AC86U) connected by an Openreach modem (Huawei HG612). I am getting decent speeds of around 74mbps download and 14mbps upload and latency is around 9ms.

  • Does the face plate needs to be upgraded as well?
  • Are there any required physical changes? Such as, do I have to use BT's router to use 'Ultrafast Fibre Plus'?
  • Or is it just a simple order online and the speeds gets upgraded without an engineer?

Hope you can answer my questions, feel free to ask me if you need some clarifications 🙂

Thanks!

Assuming Ultrafast is being delivered by G.Fast and not FTTP then to use your Asus you would need a G.Fast modem.

If it were to be delivered by FTTP, then a fibre cable and ONT would need to be installed which you could still connect your ASUS to.
