Very low upload speed

Go to solution

003E5ED1-8FE4-4877-BFD3-029FB768179A.jpeg

Hi, hoping someone can help. I’ve been applying for a few work from home jobs but apparently my upload speed is too low.

Im on fibre 1 complete WiFi and have a guaranteed minimum download speed of 22. My upload speed on my contract is quoted as between 5-7 however it always seems to be less than 1.

I’ve run a few tests I’ve seen elsewhere and hope someone could suggest if anything looks wrong. Thanks

Hi @AndyFibre1,

Welcome to the Community and thanks for taking the time to post.

Sorry to hear that you're experiencing slow upload speeds?

Your connection time was just over a day in your first post, had the connection been dropping or did you manually reboot the hub?

Can you post up to date hub stats?

Do you have your hub plugged into your master socket and can you complete the silent line test?

I look forward to hearing back from you.

Thanks

Matt

Hi Matt, thanks very much for the reply.

I moved the router to a more central location in the house about 5 days ago, however the upload speed has been ultra low for about a year.

I have completed the silent line test and all was silent. The router is plugged into the main socket.

Updated details below.

Thanks

Hi @AndyFibre1,

Thanks for getting back. I think we'll need to run a few checks so I've dropped you a private message. Send over your details and we'll take it from there.

Cheers

David

A very big thank you to David and Neil for the excellent help give. In identify my issue.

Davids test revealed a “bridge cap” fault on my line and removing the socket faceplate and connecting to the master connection revealed the issue was within my house.

Further investigation revealed the very old isdn that went to an upstairs bedroom has at some point been cut. That extension line hasn’t been used in over 15 years.

This is now what the wiring looks like to the master socket. Is there anything I can do safely to remove the old line or am I better getting someone out.

Im based in Tyne and Wear if there’s anyone local who could quote for the job.

Thanks again for all the help.
