Voneus Fibre is now installed in my street - do i need to cancel BT?

I now have Voneus fibre installed in my street and they are offering me very fast fibre services.  I only have copper from BT and the BT web site say there is no fibre in my area.

Will BT be reselling the fibre any time soon?  Or do i need to cancel with BT to get a fibre service?

Re: Voneus Fibre is now installed in my street - do i need to cancel BT?

BT uses Openreach's infrastructure.

Whereas Voneus is a alternative network provider and uses their own infrastructure. BT will not use Voneus infrastructure or network.

To see if BT have plans for fibre broadband in your area you need to check the Openreach website: https://www.openreach.com/

Also check their full fibre programme: https://www.openreach.com/fibre-broadband/where-when-building-ultrafast-full-fibre-broadband

Thanks for the quick reply. And is that true 100% of the time? (BT only use Open Reach)
I’m sure Open Reach will not put a second set of fibres into a small village location and we are not listed on any of their plans that you shared.

So I take that as, cancel BT for ever, they will no longer support me?

BT only use openreach,  I am sure openreach will install fibre in your village but who knows when

@david20011

Yes, BT only uses Openreach infrastructure or EE's Mobile network for mobile based broadband.

Between now, 2026 and towards 2030 Openreach may add your area to their roll full fibre rollout as there's ambitions for the UK to get closer to nationwide coverage of full fibre and gigabit broadband by 2030 - https://commonslibrary.parliament.uk/research-briefings/cbp-8392/

For now though you can register your interest with Openreach for their full fibre broadband rollout so you can be updated once your area is included in their plans
