Waiting almost 2 months for an engineer visit

I was recently alerted that fibre optic was available in my area and i was able to get FTTP.

I placed my order on the 15th of january and recieved my modem a week later, i was informed the engineer would visit the 2nd of february. I recieved a text message informing me that openreach had to conduct a survey and i would be given another date for the engineer visit which was 22nd of february.

Along comes 22nd of february and after taking a day off work waiting for the engineer visit nobody had turned up. I phoned customer service and was informed the engineer was not booked correctly and would have to wait till the 14th of march for him to visit, due to my frustration i wanted to cancel my BT broadband package i currently have but was informed i could not due to still being in contract. I was then contacted by another department from customer service who had investigated into my problem and told me if the engineer did not turn up on the 14th of march i could ring her back up and cancel my contract with no penalties.

I contacted BT customer service a week before the 14th of march to confirm my engineer visit before i decided to take another day off work for nobody to turn up and was informed that they had no booking for me even though i have given them my order reference.

I am not getting a straight answer from customer service and it seems like they don't have a clue about my issue and dont know how to resolve it. Is it really this hard to get a engineer visit?

When they do book an appointment and finally send an Openreach Engineer out be sure to moan to high heaven to him about it because it’s all his fault.

I might be missing something here, but today is the 7th. of March. You say the engineer is booked for the 14th. of March. Could it be he has not appeared because he is not due till next week? Or have you simply made a mistake with your dates.

I wish BT and other companies would stop calling their technicians engineers.  They are not engineers!

Really? Would you like to define an engineer, I think you may surprise yourself.

Re: Waiting almost 2 months for an engineer visit

Yes, they are Engineers because they get off their **bleep** and actually do. Unlike those who claim to be Engineers and sit on their **bleep** all day.
