Why can't I get FTTC??? (and they want to instal FTTP?)

Go to solution

I am moving to a new property.

There is an existing Openreach copper cable that is perfect!  It's all I need!

I don't want them to drill a hole, rewire the cable through my living room, make a mess...

But why all operators want me to install a fibre cable and will not let me use the existing cable??

Thanks for the help!!!

You are in a fibre priority area so only option being sold is FTTP and no option to get FTTC.  Basically FTTP or nothing

@pietmau

As @imjolly has said, once FTTP is available to you this takes precedence over copper based products.

FTTP will eventually become the sole fixed line mechanism to delivering broadband once it's available. Providers are also incentivised to move customers to the FTTP infrastructure once it is available along with copper product stop sell policies put in place.
