Will BT be able to get me above my guaranteed speed?

After a total nightmare getting activated for fibre and over three weeks without broadband I have finally now got fibre. I was previously on an EO-Line with the highest speed of around 1.8mpbs. My line was to be diverted into a fibre cabinet and Openreach had said the work was completed when it wasn't and BT took my order and the cables weren't even in the cabinet yet! So my old provider cut me off and I was left with nothing. Anyway, this all sorted I am now on a fibre connection getting a speed of 23-24mpbs Big improvement, but My package stated a minimum speed of 27mpbs with an estimated 30-43mbps. I know its not a huge difference but it is below my minimum guaranteed speed and I've never come close to the estimated speeds. Now to the question. for some bizarre reason, I have been diverted into a cabinet around 1km from my home (previously 3.5km to exchange)  despite there being a new fibre cabinet installed last year in my street just 75-80 meters from my home! Taking into account the distance to my cabinet will they be able to improve the speed? or am I simply limited by the line length. I knew I wouldn't get blistering speeds when I learned the location of the cabinet but I would have thought it would have all been worked out in my minimum. I don't know why I am not in my closest cabinet.

Any info or experience would be appreciated.

Thanks,
David

Re: Will BT be able to get me above my guaranteed speed?

What does the speed checker  show for your phone number

https://www.dslchecker.bt.com/

Perhaps you can post your router stats....is your router connected at the master socket ?, if you haven't done so already, you could try connecting your router in the master socket test port, that way, eliminating and possible issues with extension wiring/sockets that you are responsible for.

You obviously realise that the distance you are from the cabinet is the major factor determining the speed you will sync at, if you don't achieve the minimum speed guarantee then AFAIK,your ISP should try and get you up to that speed and if they cannot, allow you to leave penalty free if you wish, but presumably you have to ensure you don't have issues within your home that they ( and Openreach) are not responsible for, first.

Those aren't the required connection stats.

HH6 Advanced settings/technical log will get them for you to post.

Re: Will BT be able to get me above my guaranteed speed?

can you also try connecting to the test socket with a filter as @iniltous asked as that should be your best conenction even if you currently have a filtered master socket

I am in the test port now. No major Differences.

Just out of interest what does plugging into the test port do?
