Re: best router 2016

I currently have a TPLink TD-W9980 which seems very solid and it works with the BT YouView box.

Before that I had a AVM Fritz 3490 which has some great features for telephony but it syncs slower than the TD-W9980 and the BT YouView isn't supported.

Re: best router 2016

Hi,

If you want nothing more than the fastest, most stable connection and things like IPTV and AC wireless are not required then you could do worse than a Fritzbox 3390.

DSL stats:

I don't think you will sync much faster than that.

Connection rock steady since Jan 2014, no drops initiated by the kit.  Alternative is a Dray Tek Vigor 130, (modem only) and router of your choice.  Check that the router you decide on fully supports IPv6.  The Fritz I can vouch for, running mine on native IPv6.   Other forum members will have their own preferences router wise and may offer their suggestions.

If IPv6 is important then read message 49 onwards on this topic re the W9980  https://community.bt.com/t5/Connected-Devices-Other/IPv6-on-Tp-Link-TD-W9980/td-p/1672827/page/5

Re: best router 2016

Is it still better to use open reach modem and separate router or are modem routers up to scratch?

Re: best router 2016

My HH5 started to be a **bleep** too, opted for TP-Link Archer VR600. Had it for 2 weeks now, solid connection.
