hi info on bt infinity

Hi everyone,

Just registered with this site as I am having some Internet issues.

I just bought fibre optic BT infinity broadband 80mbps. I have a big house and the standard BT home hub4 router just doesn't cut it.

After looking around and speaking to some specialists I heard Draytek are the leaders with routers.
So I decided to buy the Draytek 2760n with upgraded antennas. Even though this is much much better it still isn't providing enough coverage around the house, any ideas?

The router is a 2in1. A modem and router. I have tried many configurations and user name is bthomehub with password is the email password I set.
With these settings I can only get 5mbps when I should be getting around 80. This was proven when the line was installed, by engineer did a line check.

I will be ringing Draytek as have some other issues but thought why not post on here and see what other people have to say.

Anybody else with a Draytek?
I don't know what I'm doing wrong to only get 5mbps.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thank you

Re: hi info on bt infinity

The username is bthomehub@btbroadband.com and any password will work, a password is not required.

You could site another wireless access point near to where more coverage is required and connect it to the main router with an ethernet cable or using homeplugs.

Re: hi info on bt infinity

Or simply invest in a range extender

Re: hi info on bt infinity

It requires a password, and it has to be the email password. Nothing else works.
Have a net gear range extender - connects to router, but nothing can connect to the extender. Says unable to connect to some websites, limited connectivity.

What can I use as a wireless access point? Any router or specific access point device?

Thanks for your comments.

Re: hi info on bt infinity

I have line extenders but ethernet isn't working from Draytek router. No idea why.

I have tried that user name. Nothing.

Thanks

Re: hi info on bt infinity

Best mate used that draytek model listed and had exactly the same issue of lost speed when plugged in. Before you ask he does work in the field as a PC/Server engineer and is MCSE certified to the hilt, has been doing installs for twenty years now and he never did suss it out. He just plugged the draytek into the modem. And yet local PC shop is using one and they have no issues. Totally mad!

Re: hi info on bt infinity

I never did ask him or bother to look, and it would be a complete guess its still connected thru the modem port on draytek, and the settings are gonna be PPOE. ray_dorset most likely knows the answer to this as he seems a really knowledgable guy

in the meantime look here:
