i upgraded fibre speed but it is the same speed as i was getting before

in 2014 i was with sky fibre and got 65Mbps download, i switched to bt on the fibre 1 package and was capped at 50Mbps download, i have been on that for years and paying £19.99, i was happy with it, but i looked on my account and saw an offer to upgrade to fibre 2 for an extra £2 per month, i assumed that sky and BT would be the same and i would get the 65Mbps that i was getting with sky.. but so far i am still only getting the same speed. this speed is within the estimated amount BT quoted me at checkout.. but it is no different from what i was getting when paying £19.99.. would i be able to roll this upgrade back? https://www.speedtest.net/result/8977290036

You should have a 10 day cool off period.

Hi @BrendanHickey sorry that you are not seeing any improvement in speed after upgrading to the fibre 2 deal. Please would you check your number Here and post the results.

PS remember to delete your phone number before posting the results.

cheers

post hub stats  if hh6 then advanced settings then technical log information   if hh5 then troubleshooting then helpdesk

Re: i upgraded fibre speed but it is the same speed as i was getting before

Your line will not support a higher speed as you are too far away from the cabinet, so upgrading may not have made much difference to the download speed, however there is some room for improvement as the max data rate is quite a bit higher than your connection rate.

In practice, you are unlikely to notice any difference unless you spend a lot of time downloading very large files.

Re: i upgraded fibre speed but it is the same speed as i was getting before

What about the upload speed?

Its weird that I would average around 63Mbps when I was with sky a few years back.

What is it that your looking at to see my speed?

When I do a speedtest.net it maxes out at 9.99 upload and the download has never been higher than 49.. this is why I think they have restrictions

Data rate and max data rate. You may manage 59-60mb.

It looks as though the upgrade hasn't gone through.

An increase in crosstalk as more people are connected to the cabinet, reduces the available usable frequencies need to carry the data. Copper cables were never designed to carry high frequencies and they induce signals into other pairs (crosstalk)

This will only get worse. The solution is of course, optical fibre.
