hi i'm moving house in a few days i've already aranged the move with BT my services were supposed to be activated today but for some reason my broadband went off but my phone is still working

You can only have broadband activated at one place at a time, so I expect your broadband is in the process of being migrated to your new house.
The phone line could still be active, especially if you are moving to a different exchange area, as you would not be able to take your existing number with you.
Your line at the old house would be marked as a "stopped line", so although you will get dial tone, you may not be able to make or receive calls.
The broadband would be provided at the new house, if you have asked for activation today.
