planning to get myself an unlocked openreach modem

Hi

I am planning to get myself an unlocked openreach modem because I

am also having issues with connection dropouts with the HH5

What model and version of the openreach modem is the most up to

date and the best and most stable and popular one to get?

Thank you in advance for the suggestions.

Re: planning to get myself an unlocked openreach modem

Thank you guys for responding with your suggestions.

I have just bought a Unlocked BT Openreach ECI modem model B-FOCuS V-2FUb/I Rev.B rather

than a BT Openreach HG612 modem because I have a ECI cabinet and according to many users,

your best matching your cabinet with a Openreach modem that is built from the same chipset etc.

Hopefully i'll see less dropouts and I will be able to stay connected for a lot longer and my connection

will be much more stable with the BT Openreach ECI modem and the Home Hub 5 as just a router.

I might go back to using the Home Hub 5 is an all in one modem+router if they manage to sort the

OpenRG and PPP IPCP issues with a updated firmware or etc.

Re: planning to get myself an unlocked openreach modem

One question.

On the Unlocked BT Openreach ECI modem, how do you access the web GUI that has your full line status?

Do you need to unplug the HH5 from your computer ethernet port and connect the BT Openreach

ECI modem directly to computer via ethernet port to access the web GUI or can you access the

web GUI of the BT Openreach ECI modem the normal way you have is set up with the HH5 plugged

into the ECI modem and then connected to the computer via the HH5 to access the internet?

Re: planning to get myself an unlocked openreach modem

There is no GUI available on newer eci modems, with a bit of work stats can be pulled out and commands sent using telnet, other web sites document this process very well.

As a side note the modem belongs to bt not sure if you have the right to "hack" it, I certainly would not discuss it on their forum?

I was in same position as you, was lucky to get a full day without HH5 resync, so i purchased both HG612 and ECI(latest version)

Tried the hg612 for a few days but connection was still dropping and my speeds were getting slower, switched over to ECI on friday and been connected ever since and i can see my speed starting to rise

I can do without GUI as long as i stay connected, HH5 now put away in cupboard

Re: planning to get myself an unlocked openreach modem

I can second Kenny, my HH5 was disconnecting, bought ECI/r, with 3rd party router and had solid connection for last 4 weeks, today is first ip change, and that was because I switched house off to add new sockets. Previously I could re-sync 4 times a day.

I used to get 42Mbps, now at ~54Mbps. Just wish now interleaving would bog off!
