planning to get myself an unlocked openreach modem

Swapped over to the unlocked ECI/r  from the unlocked HG612 3B

So far so good, slightly quicker and interleave is off 🙂  I'll see how it goes this week.

One thing is noticable, the eci seems to run cooler.

May be a dumb question but what's the different between a locked and an unlocked VDSL modem.... What should I be looking to buy as some descriptions from the auctions sites don't specify.

the only difference is the unlocked modem you can bring up the line stats and the standard locked modem you cannot. they both work fine, just some people like to see the stats

and you can turn some options off and on, on an unlocked modem.

They are excellent with the added features, plus according to the people on a more techincal forum give faster speeds.

Been using the unlocked HG612 3B with BT software removed and its been excellent. 

Back on the unlockled ECI/r at the moment  & upto now lines is great. The ECI/r runs cooler which might come into its own in summer time.

Ok cool, so looking at my PCP it seems to be an ECI variety (smaller with 1 door) so I will look to get one from the various places online :).

Can locked ones be unlocked fairly easily?

Forgot to menition with the unlocked ECI/r  Lan2 works as well.

Had no issues with updates/disconnects - It very simular to the hg612-3b.

Hi Barry how do you know your interleave is off is this something i can see in the stats? btw i have a unlocked hg612.

There good aren't they 🙂 Mine shows all the line details with a the software.

I belive its from this command ? 

xdslcmd info --stats

I'm not a programmer or coder so please double check - just in case :oops:
