Re: planning to get myself an unlocked openreach modem

Not sure on unlocking the I just took the other "Guru's^ advice and got eci & later the hg612 3b already unlocked

The line took just over a month for the dlm to release its grip on the line after the mess the hh5 left it in.

Guru Ray recommend getting the modem to match the green street box for the best possable connection to clam the line back down as quick as possable and it worked a treat.

Can't resist a quick type of the get sats ...

ActualInterleaveDelay=0 ActualImpulseNoiseProtection=0  nINTLVDEPTH=1 DataPath = Fast

BTRetails sister isp has a good guide on the dlm and its counting habits 🙂

Re: planning to get myself an unlocked openreach modem

So I hooked my HG612 up to my HH5 as described, and while it seemed to be working out well later on I noticed that I dropped connection for about a minute, 2 or 3 times every hour. The connected time was still going strong though and not reset. I disconnected the HG612 and went back to just the HH5, and no more dropouts. Any reason the HG612 is losing connection like this?

Re: planning to get myself an unlocked openreach modem

It depends what you mean by connection drops. It soulds like the VDSL sync is not dropping as the connection time doesn't reset. Does the HH5 event log show any drops in the WAN connection?

Re: planning to get myself an unlocked openreach modem

Not really sure what I'm looking for, to be honest... this is from Wednesday.

edit - wrong time posted

This is without powering down or touching the modem or router at all. What I mean by dropped connection is no sites load for me for about a minute or so, and chrome says the page isn't available (for any site, google, bbc etc). The computer is connected by powerline.

Re: planning to get myself an unlocked openreach modem

What you're looking for is an entry from when the HH5 is connected to the HG612 that may help understand what connection is being lost.

That log you posted is from when the HH5 is connected to the master socket.

Re: planning to get myself an unlocked openreach modem

From that log it looks like a problem with the cable between the modem and the Homehub, or even the sockets that the cable plugs into.

Re: planning to get myself an unlocked openreach modem

Might be worth also checking unlocked hg612 3b to see if its not  getting to hot?

Another poster earlier in the thread in summer time noticed some issues with the lan ports being mischievous . I  put my Unlocked 3B on some ceramic heat costers which worked well at keeping the 3b cool.

The Unlocked eci/r can placed next to my radiator and its still runns cool compaired ro the 3b :))  - The vents are a lot bigger on the eci/r-

Surprised at the suggestion that the HG612 3b might overheat. Mine (wall-mounted) runs 24 hours a day and doesn't even feel warm to the touch.
