Re: planning to get myself an unlocked openreach modem

Other posters also reported the same from earlier in the thread.

can confirm the ECI runs MUCH cooler than the HG612.

 --------------------------------------------------------------------------

 I swapped my HG612-3b for an ECI and can confirm it runs far cooler. It barely gets warm to the touch.  The ECI also has slightly better latency than the 612.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

latency shows a greater increase when using the HG612  when compared to the ECI

 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The heat mats worked a treat on mine as the walls were  recently re plastered  {getting the drill out wasn't really an option... quiet life et-al 😉

Maybe the heat was more noticeable due to the way I had the hg612 3b set up ?    Do find the eci/r much cooler in the same set up configuration.

Re: planning to get myself an unlocked openreach modem

I think I've  accidently  found something similar to my hg612 pbParams command on the unlocked eci/r

I miss typed the f for a b with the "fsg" commdand and this got spilled out:

unlocked eci/r

nFormat=(nBandIndex, (nLimit_firstToneIndex, nLimit_lastToneIndex), (nBorder_firstToneIndex, nBorder_lastToneIndex)) nData="
(00,(0033,0857),(0033,0857))
(01,(1218,1959),(1218,1959))
(02,(2795,4076),(2795,4061))

The figures are different I think from my unlocked hg612 looking at my old notes might be due when openreach were working at the street box.

Here's an equivalent HG612 band plan from Google:

Discovery Phase (Initial) Band Plan DS: (32,859) (1216,1963) (2792,3959)

Re: planning to get myself an unlocked openreach modem

Thanks Ray!

Still not sure what it all means but will continue to have a "PuTTY" session on the weekends... 😮

The main stat I  like to check is the "Fast" mode one,  just to see if the line is still in tip top condition:

ActualInterleaveDelay=0 ActualImpulseNoiseProtection=0  nINTLVDEPTH=1 DataPath = Fast

 🙂

Re: planning to get myself an unlocked openreach modem

I've bought a ZyXEL SBG3300-N modem but I'm not sure if I've set everything up right. Am confused by the quick start guide. I connected the ethernet cable from the hub to the modem. Do I have to do anything more? This business about opening he browser and entering the device's IP address doesn't work for me, no how, no way. I get nothing. I could use some help!
