slow speed

My infinity has dropped from 36mbs to 25mmbs and was at one time 22mbs  3 engineer visits could not find fault  . 30mbs at test socket but only 25 coming out of hub6 . The hub6 has been replaced and moved next to socket but still only 25mbs . Does my DLM need to be looked at?Capture checker.PNG

Re: slow speed

Hi @coleva,

Thank you for posting. I'm sorry you've seen the speed of your connection drop.

In order to get a better understanding of what's happening with the connection, please can you post your router stats as shown - Broadband - Top Tips to get help on the forum

Thanks

PaddyB

Re: slow speed

Hi @coleva,

Thank you for posting that information. I'm sorry for the delay in posting back, I was out of the office for a few days.

Going by those stats it doesn't look like your line has been banded. Your router is getting 30.99 Mbps, which inside the estimate for your line.

Thanks

Re: slow speed

Yes I saw that but I am only getting  25 to 26 through the hub when I was getting 36 for at least a year so something must be wrong . The engineers cant find a line fault so it must be in Bt system . Its ironic that they tell me  if I upgrade and pay £3 extra a month I can average 67mbs but they will only guarantee 21mbs

Upgrading will not make a jot of difference to your speed. The 30M figure is the sync speed of your line which gives a throughput speed of 25/26 after allowing for protocol overheads.

Broadband is not a precise science, speed may well slow down over time as other customers take up service and cause crosstalk problems.

Re: slow speed

But why after a very long time after a serious line fault when a  connection was remade for many customers  I have had a steady speed of 36mbs sometimes 38 mbs  did it drop to  22 then rose to 25 or 26mbs  .the first engineer visit work had to be done at the exchange  the second visit was a recommendation that the hub was at fault so bt sent a new ow and moved it next to socket 3rd visit the engineer replaced the faceplate which improved things slightly . After the first visit the bt monitoring sent an email saying    We've been keeping an eye on it to see if the download speed is 27Mbps, which we promised as part of your Stay Fast Guarantee. Over the last three days your broadband has been slower than what we said you'd get. Sorry about that.                        So as I am only getting 26mbs surely there is something wrong

Re: slow speed

The Stayfast guarantee covers sync speed. You are syncing at 30.99mb.
