Re: speed dropping wifi and wired

well here we go again, so to bring you all up to speed(pardon the pun) my new bt hub5a arrived a day late, so i installed it as i did the last and to the instructions, all was well for a day and half then hay presto the drop out starts again was waiting for our friends from india to call today as they said they would, but alas no call, i have looked on my bt and it is showing that there is still an open fault, anyway here is what i have done so far, changed the wireless ssid and gave them different names, turned of smart setup, and now on channel 11, that is the wifi side, on the cable side just have a lan cable to the hub and that seen to work a little better, when it is up and running i get around the speed they said i would, this is starting to drive my round the bend now, here is my help desk

1. Product name:	BT Home Hub
2. Serial number:	+068343+NQ33690493
3. Firmware version:	Software version 4.7.5.1.83.8.204 (Type A) Last updated 18/01/15
4. Board version:	BT Hub 5A
5. DSL uptime:	0 days, 03:37:54
6. Data rate:	9999 / 40000
7. Maximum data rate:	17308 / 69434
8. Noise margin:	9.2 / 10.8
9. Line attenuation:	18.6 / 17.3
10. Signal attenuation:	18.5 / 17.3
11. Data sent/received:	566.8 MB / 3.8 GB

at this moment in time it is fine so any help would be  appreciated

Re: speed dropping wifi and wired

So it's not the hub dropping out, just the connection to the PC?

Re: speed dropping wifi and wired

i have had the help desk tool on, and that goes through its connection test and says the hub is having a problem connecting to the internet, then a while later i gat i signal again just wondering if it could be the DSL cable from the hub to the filter, i am plugged in to the master socket behind the front plate

Re: speed dropping wifi and wired

I think that would cause the lights to change colour. I would suspect the wireless connection and/or the ethernet cables and/or the PC

Re: speed dropping wifi and wired

The event log on the HH5 may give some clues.
